YouTube Hosts Glamorous ‘Cinema YouTube’ Premiere in Dubai to Mark 20 Years of Creativity

YouTube celebrated its 20th anniversary with a red-carpet event, Cinema YouTube, at Dubai’s Roxy Cinemas. The premiere showcased films by top MENA creators, highlighting Dubai’s rise as a digital content hub and the growing influence of regional storytellers in global entertainment.

As part of its grand 20th anniversary celebrations, YouTube brought its global festivities to the heart of the Middle East by organizing a spectacular red-carpet event called “Cinema YouTube” at Roxy Cinemas, Dubai. This first-of-its-kind premiere in the region honored five influential creators from the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region, showcasing original films that reflect personal stories, culture, and creative evolution.

The event was a celebration of storytelling in the digital era and demonstrated Dubai’s increasing role as a regional hotspot for creators and content innovation. The audience included influencers, fans, media professionals, and executives from the entertainment and tech industries.

 Featured Films and Creators

The highlight of the night was the premiere of five short films, each produced by a prominent content creator:

  • Omar Farooq (Bahrain) – Escaping the Future: A deep dive into loneliness, technology, and daily life in Japan.
  • Anas Bukhash (UAE) – ABtalks Diaries: Korea Edition: A behind-the-scenes look at Korea with personal interviews and K-pop experiences.
  • Taha Essou (Morocco) – Heritage: A nostalgic and emotional tribute to his grandfather, blending culture and memory.
  • Haifa Beseisso (Palestine) – Into the Dark: A personal transformation story during a 4-day silent darkness retreat.
  • Sherif Nabil (Egypt) – Into the Fire: Mount Ijen: A gripping documentary on the sulfur miners of Indonesia’s Mount Ijen volcano.

These creators, with millions of subscribers across the region, represent a new wave of content leaders who blend storytelling with social impact, travel, personal growth, and documentary filmmaking.

Dubai as the Hub of Digital Creativity

Choosing Dubai for this YouTube milestone event was no accident. The city is rapidly becoming a creative and media powerhouse, attracting talent, investment, and international attention. Hosting Cinema YouTube highlighted how Dubai is positioned not just as a tourist or luxury hub but also as a launchpad for digital talent.

The creators themselves praised Dubai’s infrastructure and audience diversity as an ideal backdrop for content production and fan engagement.

 Creators as Creative Entrepreneurs

A key message at the event was how today’s YouTube creators function like full-scale production houses. For instance:

  • Omar Farooq now leads a creative agency called Atanafas with over 20 employees.
  • Anas Bukhash has transformed his ABtalks channel into a business brand recognized for deep interviews and high production value.
  • Others, like Haifa and Taha, are creating content that is both culturally rich and emotionally resonant.

This shift reflects a new media era, where creators are not just influencers—they are storytellers, filmmakers, and entrepreneurs building brands and inspiring millions.

Fan Engagement and Legacy

Alongside the premiere, a fan interaction session was held, where more than 100 lucky followers met their favorite creators, asked questions, and previewed exclusive content. This direct connection between creators and audiences is one of the biggest reasons YouTube continues to thrive after two decades.

The event also acknowledged how far the platform has come—from a place for funny cat videos to a global arena for meaningful storytelling and creator-led movements.
